The ExtremistThe Extremist is an instrumental rock album released by Joe Satriani in 1992 and re-released in 1997 with his entire Epic Records catalog.

The track "Summer Song" was used heavily in a Sony commercial around the time of its release and is still heard in radio and television advertising over 15 years later. "War" was used by Disney to promote Power Rangers products at their theme parks. It is also used as the intro song to the radio show "Dave, Shelly, and Chainsaw" on 101.5 KGB

"Speed of Light," an unused track recorded during the sessions, was featured on the soundtrack for the movie Super Mario Bros. The cut was later included on 1993's Time Machine.

The track "Rubina's Blue Sky Happiness" was dedicated to Joe's wife, Rubina Satriani. Prior tracks composed for her include "Always with Me, Always with You" and "Rubina."

Joe Satriani - Surfing With Alien

Surfing with the AlienSurfing with the Alien is the second album by instrumental rock solo artist Joe Satriani, released in 1987. Surfing with the Alien contributed greatly to establishing Satriani's reputation as a respected rock guitarist.

The album contains fast and complex songs such as "Surfing with the Alien" and "Satch Boogie" in addition to the stranger-sounding "Crushing Day" and "Lords of Karma", in contrast to slower, melodic songs like "Always with Me, Always with You" and "Echo" which provide a change of pace. Also notable is "Midnight", which utilizes the technique of two-hand tapping at great speed, resulting in a Latin-American effect. There are also Nashville tuned guitars (on "Echo") and key changes (on "Always with Me, Always with You" and "Echo") to vary the album.

Joe Satriani - Professor Satchfunkilus And The Musterion Of Rock

Professor Satchafunkilus and the Musterion of RockProfessor Satchafunkilus and the Musterion of Rock is the 12th studio album by guitarist Joe Satriani. The title has Greco-Biblical connotations. The initial part, Professor Satchafunkilus, is an extension of Satriani's nickname, Satch. The second part, in particular, the word "Musterion" is a Greek word meaning "Something which cannot be known until it is revealed" in English this is roughly equivalent to a secret (not "mystery" as it is commonly misinterpreted).

Satriani has recently embarked on a special "Guitar Center Sessions" tour, which began on the release date of the album lasted through to April 11. Following this, Satriani embarked on a worldwide tour, kicking off April 30 in Lisbon, Portugal, before moving to Australia, South America and will finally be returning to the U.S. in the fall of 2008.

Joe Satriani - Not Of This Earth

Not of This EarthNot of This Earth is the first full album by instrumental rock solo artist Joe Satriani. Numerous tracks off this album are still played live by Satriani.

The original artwork used for the first pressing of this album has been lost, and has since been replaced with the alternate cover shown below. This artwork has been used for all releases onto CD. Also noteworthy, the guitar Joe is pictured with on the cover (an Ibanez 540P), was never actually used by Joe, and rather was "a promo shot that got too much press" according to Satriani.

Another pressing was made onto blue vinyl, which was most likely limited to 1000 copies.

Joe SatrianiThis is not the Joe Satriani we hear on most of his recordings. It's rich, it's bluesy, it's well done; but it is not the hard-driving, layered exotic axe work that the name Satriani conjures up. This has more in common with Stevie Ray Vaughn than with Joe's other work. In fact, that's probably a good analogy--imagine Satriani does Vaughn and you'll have a good idea of what this CD sounds like.

If you'd rather surf with aliens during a blue dream, steer clear of this one. If, however, you're open to hearing a well handled guitar get down and bluesy, give this one a listen.

Joe Satriani - Is The Love In Space

Searching (Album Version)Is There Love in Space? is the tenth studio album by instrumental rock guitarist Joe Satriani, released on April 13, 2004. The track "If I Could Fly" is now the base of a lawsuit between Joe Satriani and Coldplay. Joe Satriani was suing Coldplay for allegedly plagarising music from the song "If I Could Fly" for their song "Viva la Vida".  On 14 September 2009, the case was dismissed by the California Central District Court, with both parties potentially agreeing to an out-of-court settlement.

Joe Satriani - Engines Of Creation

Engines of CreationEngines of Creation is an album by Joe Satriani which was an experiment in fusing the "analog" instrumental  electric guitar genre with the more modern "digital" music genres of techno, drum 'n bass, and industrial music. All of the songs on the album with the exception of one ("Until We Say Goodbye") were recorded using only guitars recorded and mixed untraditionally on computer platforms as well as digitally "manipulated" using computer software and synthesizers.

The song "Until We Say Goodbye" was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance.

In the United States, a secondary album called Additional Creations was released alongside Engines of Creation free of charge, and was acquired by asking vendors for it specifically. It remains a collector's item.

Joe Satriani - Crystal Planet

Crystal PlanetCrystal Planet is a 1998 instrumental rock album from guitarist  Joe Satriani. It is likened to his classic 1989 release Flying in a Blue Dream in terms of sonics (returning from the blues/jazz toned "Joe Satriani", and the "big sounds" The Extremist) and songwriting, and features his first recorded use of a 7-string guitar (an Ibanez "Universe" model - this was before Ibanez had made him a custom "JS" seven-string) on the track "Ceremony".

This album is included in Joe Satriani Original Album Classics box set, released by Epic Records in 2008.
